Rural Heritage Museum of Stabio

Open to the public since 1981, the museum was set up with the aim to preserve and emphasize the importance of the rural past of the Mendrisiotto. The display of tools and other objects allows the visitor to relive the everyday life of peasants and artisans.

On the occasion of the thirtieth birthday of the museum the rooms have been restored and modernized. Interesting is the exhibition of archaeological objects found in Stabio in recent decades.

In different areas of the museum there are some magnificent "rustic tapestries" made with the most different materials during the 40's of the last century by Stabio Elementary School students under the guidance of teacher Lisa Cleis Vela.
