Timetable changes for summer construction work

25.06.2026

From 20 July 2026

From 20 July until 30 August 2026 a temporary timetable will be in effect in Ticino due to summer construction work, which involves a partial reduction of services on the TILO lines.

These are a series of changes to the 2026 timetable related to infrastructure works on the railway network. The works are concentrated in the summer period to coincide with school holidays and a lower number of students and commuters.

Not all services are affected for the whole period, passengers are therefore asked to check the timetable online regularly before travelling.

The main works planned in Ticino take place between Biasca, Castione and Bellinzona; between Bellinzona and Locarno; and between Lugano, Mendrisio and Chiasso. The services most affected are lines S10, S20, S90 and RE80.
IC and IR connections are also affected.

Passengers will be informed comprehensively at stations, on trains and online to ensure a calm and safe journey. In stations on Swiss territory there will be visual displays and loudspeaker announcements as well as real‑time updates on monitors. There will also be audio and visual announcements on trains to ensure passengers are properly informed.

The SBB online timetable is updated in real time and provides updates on possible changes to rail services. A dedicated web page is also available which lists all engineering works and the resulting timetable changes in detail.

From 31 August 2026 TILO services will resume normal operation.
