At the Giro d’Italia with TILO

12.05.2026

Half-hourly connections from 10:00 to 19:00 between Bellinzona, Biasca and Faido.

On 26 May 2026 the Giro d’Italia returns to Ticino, with an entire stage taking place within the canton, from Bellinzona to Carì via the Blenio Valley. The stage, 113 km long, will be held during the final week of the Giro d’Italia and could be decisive for the overall classification. For the occasion, TILO, together with the organisers, has prepared a rail transport plan.

TILO special service

For this major sporting event, which will attract a large number of spectators, TILO will increase its services to cope with the higher demand expected on the day.

For the occasion, all TILO S10 services between Biasca and Faido will be extended between 10:00 and 17:00, and between Faido and Biasca between 11:00 and 19:00. On race day, direct trains to and from Faido will run roughly every 30 minutes from Sottoceneri and from Como, and hourly from Varese. For full details and timetables please consult the online timetable.

Bicycle transport is not permitted on the additional TILO trains operating on the Biasca–Faido route. This restriction is in place to ensure passenger safety, proper use of station access, and maximum carriage capacity.

Hourly IR SOB services also operate on this route.

TILO recommends the following for those travelling by train to the event:

  • Purchase tickets online (ffs.ch) or via the SBB Mobile app where possible.
  • Travel in the front or rear of the train, where there is often more space.
