New 2026 timetable

26.11.2025

From 14 December 2025

The 2026 timetable will come into effect on 14 December, essentially confirming the TILO 2025 service with a few updates. A temporary timetable is planned for the summer for important construction works. Other temporary changes due to planned railway works are not integrated here, so it is always advisable to consult the online timetable before travelling.

Changes to TILO connections

RE80 line

  • The additional services introduced in September 2025 are confirmed. The first additional connection departs Chiasso at 4:31 and arrives at Milano Centrale at 5:17, while the second departs Milano Centrale at 5:43, allowing passengers to reach Lugano shortly before 7:00.
  • Additional connections for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games. From 5 to 22 February 2026 two special Milan–Bellinzona connections will run, departing at 23:43 and 00:43. On Sunday–Monday nights these services will run only as far as Mendrisio.

S10 line

  • Extension of some connections to Como-Camerlata. All TILO S10 services that currently terminate at Chiasso will be extended to Como-Camerlata. Conversely, Trenord S11 services will no longer run to Chiasso but will have Como San Giovanni as their new terminus. The connection between TILO S10 and Trenord S11 will therefore take place at Como-Camerlata instead of Chiasso.
  • The additional services introduced in September 2025 are confirmed with some adjustments. The S10 service departing Biasca at 20:25 is extended and continues as an S11 from Chiasso to Milano Porta Garibaldi, arriving at 22:54. At 23:09 the service departs again from Milano Porta Garibaldi, reaching Mendrisio at 00:30. On nights from Monday to Saturday the service is further extended to Bellinzona, arriving at 1:26.

S50 line

  • Direct service to Faido and Airolo from Malpensa and Como. From 14 December to 19 March, on Saturdays, Sundays and some public holidays, the S50 connection from Malpensa T2 at 6:13, which in Mendrisio joins the S10 from Como S. Giovanni at 7:10, will be extended to Faido (arr. 8:59) and Airolo (arr. 9:16). This provides a direct connection from the Province of Varese, Como and the Sottoceneri to the Leventina ski areas. In the afternoon it is possible to return with the S10/S50 connection from Airolo (dep. 16:44) and Faido (dep. 17:01); the train splits at Mendrisio, continuing as S50 towards Varese and Malpensa and as S10 towards Como S. Giovanni.
  • New direct Malpensa–Varese–Valle del Vedeggio connection. The connection departing Malpensa T2 at 6:13 will be split at Lugano from Monday to Friday (excluding holidays). One portion will continue as an RE to Giubiasco and Bellinzona via the Ceneri Base Tunnel, while the other will run as an S90 via Lamone-Cadempino towards Bellinzona.

S90 line

  • New fast connection Valle del Vedeggio–Mendrisio–Chiasso. The connection departing Giubiasco at 17:24 will run from Lugano as an RE80 departing at 17:51, with stops at Paradiso, Mendrisio and Chiasso. Conversely, the S10 service at 18:16 from Lugano to Mendrisio will become an S90 service that departs Lugano at 17:54, with stop at all stations.

The most important construction works

Timetable change due to summer construction works.
From 20 July until 3 September 2026 a temporary timetable will apply. The timetable has been designed to allow several major works to be carried out simultaneously on the Ticino rail network. The lines affected by these measures are TILO S10, S20, S90 and RE80.
Further details will follow.

Full closure of the S50 line between Stabio and Gallarate.
Due to major maintenance work, a total closure of the S50 line between Stabio and Gallarate is planned for a period of approximately four weeks. This period is still being planned and final dates have not yet been confirmed. Further details will follow.

Given these changes, we recommend that all travellers check their connections on the online timetable by entering a date after 14 December 2025.
